Item nonresponse is a significant concern since the power of survey data can be overridden if the information requested in a questionnaire is not provided. Interviewers are pinpointed as important in influencing the item nonresponse rates of studies. However, the literature is highly inconsistent regarding the interviewer characteristics responsible for this influence, and there is limited research focusing on the importance of interviewers’ attitudes and behaviours.
